The Senior baseball team defeated the Juniors yesterday afternoon in a one sided, though at times interesting, game by the score of 15 to 2. The Juniors were quite unable to hit Jackson who showed good control and judgement. Although Alexander started out well for the Juniors, he was batted freely in the third and fourth innings. Gilman, who was put in his place in the fifth, was more effective. Pierce made a very pretty one-handed catch in left field in the fifth inning. The batting of Pier, who made two home runs with men on bases each time, was the feature of the game.
The score: Earned runs--Seniors 6, Juniors 2. Home runs--Pier 2. Two-base hit--Minturn. Stolen bases--Minturn, Clark, Black, McCall. Bases on balls--by Alexander: Dever, McCall, Noyes; by Gilman: Minturn, Black, Noyes, Pier, Dever; by Jackson: Gilman, Viaux. Hit by pitched ball--by Alexander: Jackson. Struck out--by Jackson: Thayer, Dodge, Pierce 3, Sheldon 2, Johnson 2, Bennett 2, Viaux 1; by Alexander: Minturn, Black, Marean, Jackson, Pier; by Gilman: McCall, Minturn. Umpire--Murray.
