PHILADELPHIA, PA., May 15.--The University of Pennsylvania lacrosse team defeated Harvard here this afternoon by the score of 5 goals to 1. Harvard lost the game chiefly by the poor stick work of the whole team and by a lack of aggressiveness on the part of the attack; for, although the defense played a fairly good game, on the attack the men were exceedingly slow and inaccurate in shooting, and there was little team play. Penhallow played a strong, fast game on the attack and Tomlinson guarded goal well. The University of Pennsylvania won by superior stick work and team play.
The teams lined up as follows: The University team will arrive in New York from Philadelphia this morning and will go at once to the Crescent Athletic Club at Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. The men will be guests of the club until tomorrow morning when they will return to Cambridge. This afternoon the team will play the Crescent Athletic Club team on the club's grounds at Bay Ridge. As the Athletic Club has an exceptionally well developed team, the game this afternoon will be a hard one. The University team will probably line up as in the game with Pennsylvania. The dispatch announcing the Crescent A. C. line up had not been received at the CRIMSON office up to the time of going to press.
