The twenty-one teams entered for the Leiter Cup series have been divided into three sections of seven teams each and, games will begin tomorrow. Each team will play every other team in its section. The team in each section winning the greatest percentage of games will be declared the winner in that section. In case two or more teams tie for first place in the percentage of games won, a set of semi-finals will be arranged. The winners in each of the three sections will play a round of games for the championship; the team winning the greatest percentage of games to be declared the champions and to receive the cups. The teams that have not already done so are expected to organize and practice today.
The playing rules are as follows:
I. Games shall be called at 3 o'clock on Saturdays; on other days at 4.
II. Any nine not appearing within 15 minutes of the scheduled time shall forfeit the game.
III. In case of rain the game shall be called a tie, and each team shall be credited with half a game.
IV. The captains of the nines shall choose an umpire.
V. Two balls will be provided for each game by the University management. One ball may be obtained by each captain at the Athletic Association office in the Union before noon on the morning of the game.
VI. The captain of the winning team shall leave the score at the CRIMSON office before 7 o'clock on the day of the game, with the names of the players on both nines; otherwise the result will not be counted.
VII. All protests must be left at the office of the Athletic Association within 24 hours of the completion of the game in which they arose; otherwise they will not be considered.
Attention is also called to the following rule:
Not more than three members of class teams nor one man who has played on a University nine can play on one team in any game. A team that has one ex-University player may not have more than two members of class teams in any game.
The assignment of teams to sections is as follows:
Section I. Indians, Boers, Boiler Makers, Holyoke Heights, Stewed Prunes, Egyptian Deities, Incognitos.
Section II. Butterfingers, Grinds, Losers, Hell-O-Go-Damn, Strollers, Dagoes, Hustlers.
Section III. Stroke, Muffers, Sleeping Beauties, No Names, Pie Faces, Dew Drops, Dinky Dinks.
