FRESHMEN WIN THE DEBATE

Seniors Defeated in Interclass Championship.--Pasteur Medal Awarded.

The Pasteur Medal debate, held in the Fogg Lecture Room last night, which was also the final debate for the interclass championship, was won by the Freshmen. The Seniors had the affirmative of the question, which was selected by the French Department and the University Debating Club: "Resolved, That it is for the best interests of France to annex Morocco."

The Senior team spoke in the following order: G. W. Hinckley, C. W. Gilkey and G. Bettman. The order of the Freshman speakers was as follows: W. M. Shohl, J. W. Plaisted and H. A. Hirshberg. The Freshmen won by presenting their arguments mere clearly and by supporting them with clearer quotations and statistics.

The Pasteur Medal, provided for by a gift of Baron Pierre de Coubertin in 1898, was awarded by the judges to H. A. Hirshberg '06 for delivering the best debate.
