The best skating today in the vicinity of Cambridge is on the Arlington Reservoir. Other ponds in fair condition are: Cow island, at West Roxbury; Hammond's, at Chestnut Hill; Cambridge Artificial: Scarboro, in Franklin Park, Boston; Long Pond, at Winchester; Charles River, near Dedham. Skating on the Public Gardens in Boston is poor, and on Spy Pond at Arlington, unsafe.
