Under the auspices of the English Department, Mr. W. B. Yeats, the Irish poet, will speak in the New Lecture Hall this evening at 8 o'clock , on "Poetry in the Old Time and the New." Mr. Yeats, who is touring this country under the management of the Irish Literary Society of New York, is a well-known writer of poetry and prose. Hem is the editor of several collections of fairy and folk tales and is an accomplished playwright. He was one of the chief organizers of the Irish Literary Theatre, and is the president of the organization which succeeded it--the Irish National Theatre Society. An illustrated article on "William Butler Yeats," by Isabel Moore, appears in the December issue of the "Bookman."
Mr. Yeats's works include among many others: "The Wanderings of Oisin;" "The Wind Among the Reeds;" "The Shadowy Waters;" "In the Seven Woods;" "The Celtic Twilight;" "The Secret Rose;" "Plays for an Irish Theatre;" and "Ideals of Good and Evil." His "Land of Heart's Desire" was produced two years ago in Boston and attracted considerable attention.
The lecture will be open to the public.
