WESLEYAN BEATEN, 17 TO 6.

Eleven Shows Little Team Work.--Scored on Through Fumble.

Wesleyan was defeated by the University eleven yesterday afternoon, by the score of 17 to 6.

Although the University team carried the ball at will on the offense, and in the frequent interchange of punts had an advantage, the old inability to run up a large score was in evidence.

After the brace taken by the team in practice since the Amherst game, yesterday's showing was disheartening. Particularly so was the lack of team work on the offense. The backs were fast and effective when they started together, but frequently gave away the play, On the defense the men were slow in smashing up interference on fake plays, three of these plays being used by Wesleyan for a total of 45 yards. By being off-side and holding, the University team was penalized 25 yards.

Most of the faults were due to poor team work rather than to bad individual playing. Marshall was back at quarter and played a fast game. LeMoyne punted well, making one kick of 55 yards.

Wesleyan fumbled the first kick-off and lost the ball on the 25-yard line. Nichols scored the first touchdown, after about six rushes, in the first two minutes of play. In the middle of the half. Nichols again carried the ball over from the 7-yard line. Marshall kicked both goals.

In the second half, after several exchanges of punts, Harvard got the ball on Wesleyan's 25-yard line and Schoellkopf went over for a touchdown on the fourth play. The try for goal went too low. During the last few minutes of play, Goodman picked up Nesmith's fumble, and ran 20 yards for a touchdown. Rogers kicked goal.
