The University golf team defeated Oakley yesterday in a team match of ten men on a side by the score of 26 to 20. The heavy condition of the ground and the temporary putting greens made good scores impossible. Thornton, runner up in the fall tournament, did the best work for Harvard, defeating Cracknell 9 up, with an 84. J. M. Richards '04 also played well and added 5 points to the score. Richardson, who has just returned to College after an illness, played his first match of the season yesterday and tied with W. E. Egan.
The scores follow: The first team plays Wollaston tomorrow and the following men will play: Richardson, Lindsley, Brown, Proal, W. E. Egan, H. C. Egan, Wadsworth, Murdock and Thornton. The second team plays Oakley second at Oakley tomorrow. The team will play as follows: Tuckerman, Snow, (Capt.) R. H. Daniels, Thacher, Pulsifer, Hutchins, Tilden, Gourlie, Burnet and Gooding. The intercollegiate tournament begins on Wednesday, May 7, on the links of the Garden City Golf Club, Long Island.
