Congressman S. W. McCall spoke in the Fogg Lecture Room last night under the auspices of the Republican Club. He said in part: Today three questions are appearing before the people: the tariff, the financial question and imperialism. The tariff is not merely a political question, but also an economic one which has been an issue ever since the foundation of the government. As to the money question, when the time comes, the Republican party will present a sound system of finance. Mr. Cleveland who did heroic work for the gold standard was forced into political exile for that cause.
In the Philippines we should set up a liberal government and moreover a government by the people. Then when self-government is established we may withdraw our aid and let them govern themselves.
