The Freshman Musical Clubs have been rehearsing constantly for several weeks and have shown improvement which promises success for the three concerts on May 14, 16 and 19. The material as a whole is very good.
The Glee Club was the first of the three to be organized and consequently has made the best progress. The men sing together well and have very good expression. The first tenors are weak and the tone needs improvement. Among the nine songs is "Razoola Khan" which was written by P. L. Atherton '93 especially for the Club. R. Howard has been elected leader and the following men have been retained:
First tenors--R. Nichols, P. Sanger, W. McCleod, G.O. Hadfield, H.T. Adams, D. P. Cook, G. M. Heathcote.
Second tenors--E. L. Smith, W. W. Manton, G. Williamson. R. N. Baldwin, R. C. Sturgis, Jr., C. H. Brown, H. Brett, Jr.
First basses--B. Joy, P. S. Reed, J. Q. Tingley, J. A. Tuckerman, J. G. Hahlo, W. A. Phillips, W. H. Bradley, P. Perkins.
Second basses--W. S. Jones, L. T. Swain, L. Hatch, C. J. Webber, R. D. Humphreys, W. H. Davis, O. Safford.
The members of the Banjo Club have been working hard, have overcome much of their former raggedness in playing, and are now keeping together fairly well. There are not enough guitars. P. Wells has been chosen leader. Following is the present order of the Club:
Banjeaurines--P. Wells, M. Tilden, P. D. Lamson, A. Kendall, W. O. Batchelder.
Banjos--B. S. Prentice, W. Eagan, D. Davis, R. B. Walsh.
Guitars--R. E. Daniels, T. E. Sheldon, E. Kendall, F. B. Holsapple.
The material on the Mandolin Club is good. The men play together well but the expression needs improvement. As on the Banjo Club the guitars are weak. P. A. Proal is leader. The men ary playing in the following order:
First mandolins--P. A. Proal, H. F. Atherton, A. H. Hayes, F. Gooding, D. Wardner, H. B. Warren, L. A. Pettebone, J. Larned.
