Faculty on Leave Next Year.

Six members of the University Faculty have been granted leave of absence for next year: Professors Wendell, Smith, Palmer, Royce, Toy and Minot.

Professor Wendell will travel abroad, and between September and April be will deliver the Clark lectures, at Trinity College, Cambridge University, England. There will be in all twelve lectures on some stated period of English literature. His courses, English 23 and 33, will not be given next year.

Professor Smith, who has recently resigned his position as Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, will go abroad for at least a part of the year for rest and recuperation.

Professor Palmer, who will divide his sabbatical year with Professor Royce, and be absent the first half-year, intends to travel in England, France and Italy. Philosophy 4 will not be given next year, but another course on some phase of ethics will substituted for it.

Professor Royce, who will be absent the last half-year, has not yet decided where he will go, but he too will probably go abroad.

Professor Toy will spend two months in Greece and Egypt, and will attend the International Congress of Orientalists at Bremen in September. Professor Toy's courses, Semitic 13 and 16, will by given next year by Professor G. F. Moore; Semitic 2 will be conducted by Professor Lyon, who is now travelling in Palestine; and Semitic 7 and 8 by Dr. Haynes.

Professor Minot of the Medical School will also be absent next year. His courses in histology and embryology will be given by his assistants.

The golf match scheduled for today with the Oakley Golf Club team has been cancelled.

The last University Assembly of the year will be held in the Gymnasium this evening at 8.30 o'clock.
