BASKETBALL TEAM WINS.

Yale Outplayed and Defeated by a Score of 39 to 20.

The University basketball team defeated Yale Saturday night in the Gymnasium by the score of 39 to 20. From the beginning of the game, Harvard clearly outclassed Yale in team work and speed, and was much more accurate in throwing goals from the floor. The game, thought not very fast, was rough and marked by many fouls.

By excellent offensive play Harvard kept the ball in Yale's territory most of the time during the first half and prevented her scoring a single goal from the field. At the beginning of the second half, when the score stood 27 to 4, Yale improved greatly and held her own well till the end of the game.

At centre Randall outplayed his opponent and each time got the start on the toss-up. Hanavan at guard played the best defensive game for Harvard, while for Yale Colton and Lockwood did the best work.

The line-up was as follows: HARVARD.  YALE. Browne, r.f.  r.f., Colton. Linehan, l.f.  l.f., Dibble. Randall, c.  c., Hyatt. Hanavan, r.g.  r.g., Lockwood. Bigelow, l.g.  l.g., Church, (Hall).

Score--Harvard 39, Yale 20. Goals from floor--Harvard, Browne, Linehan 3, Randall 4, Hanavan, Bigelow 4; Yale, Dibble, Lockwood, Hyatt, Hall. Goals from fouls--Yale, Colton 8. Umpire--H. S. S. Anderson. Referee--C. C. Stroud. Time--20 minute halves.

By winning Saturday's game, Harvard is now tied with Columbia for second place in the intercollegiate league, while Yale is at the head. This is the last game of the season to be played by either Harvard or Yale.
