The chess match between Harvard and Somerville Y. M. C. A., held last night at the Union, resulted in a tie.

William H. Moody '76 of Haverhill has been appointed Secretary of the Navy in place of John D. Long '57, resigned.

E. H. Greene '02 has been appointed head coach of the Washington and Jefferson College football team for next fall.

A basketball game between the Freshmen and the Brookline High School will be played in the Gymnasium tonight at 8 o'clock.

The Pierian Sodality has arranged for a joint concert with the Radcliffe Choral Society to be given in Sanders Theatre on April 5.

Dean Briggs and W. T. Reid '01 have been invited to speak as guests at the Philadelphia Harvard Club dinner to be held in Philadelphia on Saturday, April 5.

The Springfield Club has elected the following officers: President, G. M. Leonard '03; vice-president, A. A. Ballentine '04; secretary and treasurer, A. A. Geisel '04.

A. Tyng '04, who recently broke the strength test record, made a total of 2229 kilograms. Last year Tyng was next to the strongest man at Harvard, and stood third in the intercollegiate tests.
