J. R. De Witt has been elected captain of the 1903 Princeton football team. De Witt prepared at Lawrenceville and has played guard and tackle on the university team.
A dinner will be held today at the Waldorf Hotel, New York, in honor of the inauguration of President Woodrow Wilson of Princeton. About 450 alumni of Princeton and invited guests will be present, and Harvard will be represented by Mr. A. G. Fox '69.
At the last meeting of the House Committee of the Union it was decided to take out the free public telephone just inside the coat-room door and to substitute a new pay telephone in addition to the one in present use. The free telephone costs about four cents a call and the House Committee finds it too expensive to continue.
The annual meeting of the executive committee of the National Civic Federation began in New York yesterday and will continue today and tomorrow. Special attention is being paid to the results and lessons of the recent coal strike. A large number of prominent persons are taking part in the discussions, among them, President Eliot, Bishop Potter, ex-President Cleveland and Senator Hanna. Several leaders of national labor organizations as well as a number of English workmen who have been brought to this country by Alfred Mosely are also attending the sessions of the Committee.
