Fencing Squad Plans.

The University fencing squad now numbers 101 men, and has been divided into classes, which work under the supervision of the University and squad captains. The best men in each class have been given appointments for December with the fencing master, and the others are provided for in the novice classes on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. Class teams will be picked Monday, and will compete for the class championship on Wednesday, December 10, and Friday, December 12.

Shortly after the class tournament, a squad of twenty-four men will be selected, the best ten of whom will be chosen for the final University squad. These men will be instructed throughout January, February, and March, at the B. A. A., by the best instructor who can be secured, and should develop into a strong team. The intercollegiate tournament will be held at New York in the latter part of March. On December 13 there is to be a match between the B. A. A., B. Y. M. C. A., Yale, and Harvard teams in Boston, and a dual match with Cornell will probably be held at Ithaca in February.

The men not chosen for the University squad will be formed into a club, in which instruction can be obtained two or three times a week for a small sum. There will also be fencing at the Gymnasium on Wednesday afternoon throughout the winter, under the direction of experienced men, and the Fencers' Club will probably conduct several novice and open contests in January and February.
