An unusually interesting programme was rendered by the Boston Symphony Orchestra at last night's concert in Sanders Theatre. The feature of the concert was Mendelssohn's delightful E Minor Concerto with Miss Maud MacCarthy as the soloist. Miss MacCarthy's performance was of the highest order-full of repose and dignity in the quieter moods, and of dash and enthusiasm in the spirited passages. Her tone is pure and rich, the high notes being remarkably clear and beautiful. The playing of the third movement of the Concerto was particularly successful.
The programme was as follows: Berlioz, Overture, "Les Francs Juges:" Mendelsohn, Concerto in E Minor; Liszt, Symphonic Poem. "Tasso:" Schumann, Symphony No. 2.
