The singles in the University tennis tournament yesterday were, with the exception of one match, reduced to the semi-finals and these will be played off today. The preliminary and first rounds of the doubles will also be finished this afternoon. Men must be at the courts at the time scheduled, otherwise they will be defaulted, and all scores must be left at the CRIMSON office before 7 p. m. The courts will as usual be reserved for the matches.
Yesterday's matches resulted as follows:
Singles--Fourth round--George defeated Cole 6-3, 6-3; Bishop vs. Collester, unfinished, 6-4, 7-9, 4-4.
Doubles--Preliminary round--Drake and Dana defeated Bullock and Brown 4-6, 8-6, 6-2; Larned and Larned defeated Schlesinger and Beals 6-3, 3-6, 6-0; Bird and Hunt defeated Aertsen and Brock 6-1, 1-6, 7-5; Ives and Langmaid defeated Colwell and Perine 7-5, 6-1; Boggs and Karr defeated Bartlett and Barton 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.
The following matches will be played today:
Singles--At 3--C. H. Collester vs. R. Bishop.
At 3.30--W. S. Warland vs. winner Collester and Bishop match; E. H. George vs. W. P. Blagden.
Doubles--At 3.30--Downs and Stone vs. Mason and Adams; Derby and Wendell vs. Prentiss and de Rham; Drinkwater and George vs. Mitchell and Thayer; Bird and Hunt vs. Ives and Langmaid; Catlin and Taussig vs. Greenough and Sulloway; Rothermel and Fosdick vs. Drake and Dana
At 4--Swartzel and Collester vs. Ivy and Wadsworth.
At 4.15--Larned and Larned vs. winner of Drinkwater-George and Mitchell-Thayer Match; Colwell and Perine vs. winner of Derby-Wendell and Prentissde Rham match.
