W. Jones has been appointed manager of the Freshman hockey team.

One of the hockey rinks on Jarvis Field has been completed and will be used for the class hockey games.

Brown University has recently received a gift of $75,000 from John D. Rockefeller for the erection of a building similar to Brooks House.

President Eliot has received an invitation from the Tokio Harvard Club to visit Japan during his western trip, but is unable to accept it.

Professor H. W. Smyth of the Greek department will serve again this year as chief examiner in Greek on the College Entrance Examination Board. Professor Smyth serves strictly as an individual, as Harvard has no official connection with the board.
