At a meeting of the University Debating Club yesterday afternoon, it was decided to hold the trials to select the team to debate against Princeton on February 17, 20 and 25. At the first trial any man who wishes to try for the team will be allowed to speak five minutes, and ten men will be retained for the second trial. At this trial ten minute speeches will be made, and six men will be retained for the final trial. This will be conducted as a regular debate, each man making a main speech of twelve minutes and a rebuttal of five minutes. The Coolidge prize of $100 will be awarded to the man who makes the best average showing in the three trials.
A committee composed of the presidents of the class clubs was appointed to investigate the operation of the present class club system, and to suggest improvements upon it.
It was decided that nothing should be done at present about the proposed lectures on oratory.
