About a hundred and thirty candidates for the Freshman football team began practice yesterday afternoon on Soldiers Field. The men were temporarily divided into three squads. The practice consisted only in passing and falling on the ball, followed by a short run. It is hoped that more men will come out as the squad is considerably smaller than that of last year. A permanent Freshman coach has not yet been appointed. Yesterday J. S. Lawrence '01 and A. Winsor '02 did the coaching.
Dana Brannan has been appointed manager, and D. P. Cook assistant manager, of the team.
