Criticism of Yale Crew.

The Yale University crew has not the even appearance of the Harvard crew when in the boat. As the men vary greatly in height, some are able to row a slightly longer stroke than others, and this makes the time ragged and the boat unsteady. The coaches have paid but little attention to appearance, and each man has individual faults which mar the looks of the crew, although they do not severely hurt its effectiveness. The recovery is not quite as good as that of the Harvard crew, but there is a stronger drive at the finish, so that the boat does not stop between strokes as much as Harvard's. One or two of the men have a tendency to settle in the boat at the finish of the stroke, and rush their slides a little on the recovery. In the last week there has been a great improvement in pulling the stroke through and in the shoot of the hands on the recovery.
