BASEBALL GAMES TODAY.

Harvard Plays Michigan for the First Time on Soldiers Field at 3.

The University nine will play the University of Michigan on Soldiers Field at 3 o'clock this afternoon. Michigan has made an extensive eastern trip this year, and is playing Harvard for the first time. On the trip the team has been defeated by Syracuse, 8 to 4; by Yale, 12 to 2; and by Brown, 9 to 8. Judging from these scores the game should not be a hard one to win.

The batting orders: Harvard.  Michigan. Murphy, 2b.  c.f., McGinnis. Wendell, l.f.  1b., Condon. Reid, c.  l.f., Snow. Frantz, 1b.  c., Bleucoe. G. C. Clark, 3b.  2b., Touhill. Devens, r.f.  r.f., Davies. Coolidge, s.s.  s.s., Flesher. Putnam, c.f.,  3b., Weber. Clarkson or Stillman, p.  p., Fisher.

Harvard 1904 vs. Yale 1904.

The Freshman nine will play the Yale freshmen this afternoon at New Haven.

The Freshmen started the season with excellent material for every position, but almost all the best men have now been put on probation. For this reason the development of the nine has been very slow. In the recent game with Andover, however, the nine showed unexpected strength, so a good showing should be made in the game today.

The greatest weakness of the nine is at the bat, where timely hits are often lacking. The infield is capable, but not always reliable and steady. Hamlen at first base and Bennett at short stop have been playing a careful game, however, and should be able to strengthen the team at critical times. The outfield is fairly sure and backs up the infield in good form, but is not accurate. Alexander at pitcher is very effective and puts a good deal of spirit into the playing of the team. His coolness is his most valuable quality. The batting orders: Harvard '04.  Yale '04. Carpenter, 1.f.  1b., Chapin. Parker, c.  2b., Metcalf. Pierce, 2b.  c.f., Hamilton. Dana, r.f.  p., Patton. Hamlen, 1b.  c., Welton. Rockwell, c.f.  1.f., Barnes, Benham. Alexander, p.  3b., Chittenden. Fischel, 3b.  r.f., Green. Bennett, s.s.  s.s., Slade.
