An answer to the challenge sent by Harvard and Yale to Oxford and Cambridge for a regular set of track games was received last Monday. On Tuesday, at a meeting in New York it was decided to concur with the Englishmen's request that the games be held in September instead of July. September 21 was the date decided upon. Those present at the meeting were E. J. Wendell '82, J. W. Hallowell '01 and T. Gerrish '01 for Harvard, and Walter Camp, H. S. Brooks, W. M. Fincke '01 and S. L. Coy '01 for Yale. The request of Harvard and Yale that the events be increased to eleven, the Englishmen to choose two from four extra stipulated events, was refused, and accordingly the following will be contested: 100 yards dash, 440 yards run, 880 yards run, one mile run, two mile run, 120 yards hurdles, running high jump, running broad jump, and hammer throw. The teams will consist of two men from each side in each event, but it has not yet been decided whether second place in an event will count.
E. J. Wendell '82 was appointed to carry on all further negotiations.
