The work of the three upperclass football squads yesterday consisted of fifteen minutes of signal practice and about twenty minutes of play between the first and second elevens. The practice was still very ragged, but a little better than on Wednesday.
Twenty-seven candidates were out for the Senior team. In the line-up the men played with considerable dash, but with great carelessness. The backs started before the ball was passed, and there was almost no interference. The men dodged and blocked poorly, and fumbled constantly.
Thirty candidates reported for the Junior practice. The playing in the line-up was hard and aggressive, but lacked unity. There was no consistent defense in the line, chiefly because the men did not watch the ball. The tackling, however, was very accurate. The offensive playing was much stronger than the defensive, for although the linemen were weak in opening holes and did not pull the runner along effectively, there was very little fumbling and the interference formed quickly.
About thirty men were out for the Sophomore team. The signal practice was quick and accurate, but in the line-up the plays were very poorly executed. There was little interference, and a great deal of fumbling. The linemen played too high and were constantly offside.
