Co-operative Society Meeting.

The annual meeting of the Co-operative Society will be held this evening at 8 o'clock in Lower Massachusetts. At this meeting the report of the business for the last year will be presented in full, statistics of the business for the last five years will be read, officers and directors for the next year will be elected, and several changes in the present constitution, including an amendment prostitution, including an amendment providing for the remuneration of the officers of the society, will be considered. In addition a very important plan providing for the complete reorganization of the society will be discussed.

This plan provides, for the organization of a corporation to carry on the business of the society. This corporation would be capitalize at about $25,000, and the stock would be held by ten or more stockholders to be selected by the President and Fellows f the University. The stock would be paid for by a transfer to the Corporation of the present capital and assets of the society. The stockholders would execute an instrument of trust agreeing to hold the stock not for their own personal profit but for the purpose of carrying on the business along the same general lines as at present. A board of directors similar to the present one would be chosen by the stockholders to manage the business. Tickets would be sold to the students entitling them to the same privileges and profits as at present.

This plan has been approved by President Eliot and the directors of the society. Final action on the plan will not be taken tonight, but resolutions leading to its ultimate adoption will be voted upon.
