University Council Meeting.

At a meeting last night of the University Council, composed of the professors and assistant professors of the whole University, it was decided to favor the adoption of the report submitted by the Council's special committee on the wearing of caps and gowns.

This committee was appointed by the Corporation in 1897, and was composed of Professor W. James M.S. '69, E. Wambaugh '76 and M. H. Morgan '81. Shortly afterward it prepared a report on the subject, recommending certain academic costumes which were to indicate degrees, officers of the University and undergraduates. The scheme out-lined was considered too elaborate by the Corporation and was not adopted. After further discussion this fall, however, the University Council decided to reconsider the committee's report and are strongly in favor of adopting the plan submitted.
