The first three Weld graded crews raced down stream over the mile and seven eighths course yesterday. The first crew gave the second five seconds, and the third crew ten seconds. At the finish the positions of the first and second crews were unchanged, and the third was about three lengths behind the first. The stroke of the first was slow from start to finish and there was no life in the boat. The second crew rowed a quick, snappy stroke, but were inclined to rush forward. The third crew rowed in good form, but they lack the weight and strength of the other crews. Wray followed the race in the "John Harvard," and the other crews were coached by Arthur Stevens '97, from a single.
The Newell crews did not do any hard rowing yesterday. Most of the time was spent in practicing racing starts. Vail coached from a single.
