Only about fifteen men have thus far signified their intention of entering the fall chess tournament by signing the blue-books which have been placed at the Union and Leavitt's. All men who have any knowledge of chess are urged to try for the various teams by entering the tournament.
Last year Harvard lost the intercollegiate championship after holding it for seven years, owing to the fact that there was little material from which to choose a team. C. T. Rice is the only member of a former Harvard team who will play this year. This makes very urgent the necessity of developing new material.
