The kicking contests for the Burr cups were held on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon. The three cups were won as follows: punting, A. W. Ristine '02; drop kicking, W. N. Taylor '03; place-kicking, R. S. Rainsford '02.
The punting contest was the hardest to decide, as none of the results were satisfactory for distance. Five or six men made an average of twenty-five yards, but Ristine won through better speed and form. The drop kicking was decided principally on speed and accuracy. Taylor made three fair goals at a difficult angle from the twenty-five yard line, and was awarded the prize. The place kicking contest was decided solely on accuracy, Rainsford being the only contestant to get three goals from the twenty-five yard line.
About forty men entered the different events. The judges were P. D. Haughton '99 and J. Lawrence, Jr., '01.
