Freshman Musical Clubs.

The Freshman musical clubs are shortly to begin the work of preparation for the concerts in the spring. Since the first trials were held last month the Banjo Club, with a provisional membership of about fifteen, has been rehearsing under the leadership of A. B. Taylor and a nucleus has been developed for a good club. Further trials will probably be held the latter part of the week. If successful, the club will be the first Freshman Banjo Club organized since 1898.

The Glee Club has made little progress since the trials. One rehearsal was held under the supervision of the University club but no independent work has yet been done. A large number of men have been retained, so that a considerable reduction will be necessary.

The Mandolin Club is to begin rehearsing this week, and a temporary leader will then be appointed. The trials brought out a number of promising men, although no violin or 'cello players were retained. The present outlook is favorable for the production of a creditable club.
