PENNSYLVANIA BEATEN.

The Nine Wins by Timely Hitting.--Score, 6 to 1.

By hitting the ball when hits were needed the University nine defeated Pennsylvania for the second time on Soldiers Field Saturday afternoon by a score of 6 to 1. Of the eight hits made by Harvard six counted in the score, and these, with a hit by pitched ball and a wild throw netted six runs. Pennsylvania scored a run in the first inning by excellent bunting, but after that could not hit Stillman. The game was Harvard's after the first inning and Pennsylvania did not make a fight for it.

Only Harvard's good work in the field saved the game from being uninteresting. Harvard's base running showed dash and judgment, but Pennsylvania did not once attempt to steal a base.

Fincke played a brilliant game at second, accepting seven chances without an error. Devens covered a great deal of ground in left field and caught four flies. For Pennsylvania Orbin and Brown did good work, though each made an error.

In the first inning Collier and Huston bunted safely, Collier going to third on the attempt to catch Huston at first. Flavell sacrificed, scoring Collier, but the next two men were easy outs. For Harvard, Kendall was hit by a pitched ball and Loughlin bunted safely. Reid forced Loughlin at second. Kernan, running for Reid, stole second and scored with Kendall on Wendell's single to centre. Wendell stole second and scored on Deven's three-base hit past Huston. Fincke's out on a long fly brought Devens in. Clark ended the inning by going out at first. With two out in the second inning, Kendall reached third on Brown's wild throw and scored on Loughlin's hit. Harvard's last run came in the sixth inning, when Clark singled, took second on Coolidge's sacrifice and scored on Stillman's hit.
