During the past week Yale defeated Brown 5 to 1 and Columbia 9 to 4. Against Brown, Garvan pitched a good game, allowing but five scattered hits. Yale made only five hits off Washburn but managed to bunch them at critical times when bases on balls and errors counted in the score. A few hits well bunched, costly errors by the Columbia fielders, and Marcus' wildness were the causes of Yale's easy victory over Columbia. Robertson pitched well except in one inning, when he was hit three times. McKelvey pitched the last two innings and was a trifle unsteady. In general the work of the team in the field has been satisfactory except in the case of Quinby, who made five errors in the two games. At the bat Yale is still weak, but the men are showing ability to hit at critical times and to take advantage of opponents' misplays. Cunha has been catching well and Sullivan's work in the outfield has been satisfactory, so they will probably be retained in these positions in order to get Cunha on the team in place of Lyon, a weak batter.

Princeton beat Cornell on Wednesday by 11 to 7 and Holy Cross on Friday by 6 to 0, but lost to Brown on Saturday, 6 to 1. The Cornell game was loosely played on both sides. Princeton got but eight scattered hits off Bole and won the game by taking advantage of Cornell's errors. The Holy Cross game was won by good batting and Hillebrand's pitching. Princeton was unable to hit Washburn and barely escaped being shut out by Brown. Scott was hit hard and the Princeton fielders made seven errors.
