A Valuable Acquisition.

An ancient and very valuable piece of Greek sculpture has recently been placed on exhibition in the Fogg Art Museum. It is a colossal head of an Amazon, carved in a very unusual marble of a reddish tinge, supposed to be African. It has been added by Mr. E. W. Forbes '95 to the collection of original works of art which he has deposited in the Museum.

The head is beautifully proportioned, and the face has the regular Grecian features. With the exception of the back of the neck, it is in a perfect state of preservation. It is of a later date than the Meleager, the other piece of original sculpture in the Museum, but no definite conclusion has as yet been reached as to its exact age.
