Interscholastic Tennis Championship

Irving Wright of Hopkinson, won the final match of the interscholastic tennis tournament yesterday afternoon, defeating J. Seabury of Andover, in three straight sets, 6-4, 9-7, 8-6. In the semifinals which were played in the morning, Wright defeated J. Williams of Andover, 6-1, 6-1, and Seabury Won from P. Johnson of Newton High, 6-3, 6-1.

The final round was hotly contested as the score shows. Wright played a sure, steady game, varying clever work in placing by accurate smashing. Seabury had a powerful serve, and occasionally passed his opponent along the side lines, but many of his drives struck the net or went outside. Neither man played a net game.

Of the schools, Andover won the tournament with a total of 13 points; Hopkinson was second with 11 points. The trophy this year will not be a banner, as in the past, but will consist instead of a silver shield with crossed racquests, mounted on a black walnut slab.
