In a five-inning game played yesterday afternoon on the regular diamond, the first team defeated the second by the score of 7-6. The men showed better judgement in batting, but were unable to hit the ball out. On the whole, the second team hit harder than the first, but Kernan, who pitched two innings for the first team, allowed the second no hits at all and struck four men out. Holland and Woodbury were less effective and gave eleven bases on balls. The fielding is gradually improving.
The teams were made up as follows: Van Ameringe caught for both teams and Captain Reid umpired. The Freshman practice yesterday consisted of a five-inning game on the old diamond, which was won by Daly's team by the score of 15-6. The men were coached by Loughlin. Tomorrow the squad will be cut down for the last time before the game with Hopkinson next Friday.
