Baseball Practice.

Two practice nines from the University baseball squad played a seven inning game on Soldier's Field yesterday. The game was very closely contested, Loughlin's team finally winning by a score of 8-6. Batting, the weakest point, has at last begun to show improvement and several doubles and a three-base hit were secured. The features of the game were the unusual number of successful bunts made and the base-stealing. The fielding at present is as good as can be expected and most of the men are steadily improving. The outdoor work has brought on several cases of minor injuries and a cold or two, but the team as a whole is in good condition.

The make-up of the teams was as follows: Reid's Team.  Loughlin's Team. Clay, 3b.  c.f., Loughlin. Christenson, l.f.  1b., J. D. Clark. Wheelock, s.s.  2b., George. Reid, 1b.  3b., Ewer. Jaynes, r.f.  s.s., Devens. Putnam, 2b.  l.f., Wendell. Stewart, c.f.  r.f., G. C. Clark. Milne, c.  c., Eldredge.

Coolidge and Keene batted for the pitchers, Woodbury, MacDonald and Dudley, who pitched for both teams.
