The University baseball squad practiced yesterday afternoon at Soldiers Field, but a drizzling rain made accurate work almost impossible. Eight of the men were given field positions and the rest batted against Stillman's pitching. The ball was wet and soggy, so that at times the fielding was not by any means brilliant, but as a rule the playing was better than heretofore. The batting and base-running were much improved, and there was more headwork displayed than before the southern trip. Kendall and Fincke fielded well and G.C. Clark's batting was especially good. The following men played in the field: Reid, Stillman, Kendall, Fincke, Coolidge, Ewer, Loughlin and Christenson, G.C. Clark, J.D. Clark, Jaynes, Wendell and Kernan batted.
