Freshman Baseball

The Freshman nine played three games during the vacation, winning all of them by large scores. The work of the team was encouraging, although the same weakness at first base and catcher's position, was evident in all the games. The men showed unexpected strength in batting, which was due chiefly to the weakness of the opposing pitchers. The fielding, especially in the Boston Latin and Pomfret games, was decidedly ragged, and there seemed to be a general lack of snap and life. The game with Thayer Academy on Thursday showed the team at its best. The fielding was accurate and the men showed a good amount of team work, bunching their hits at critical times, and finally winning by a score of 9 to 6. In all the games, however, the men showed weakness in base-running. The scores by innings of the three games are as follows: Innings,  1  2  3  4  5  6  7  8  9  runs.  b.h.  e Freshmen,  5  2  7  0  2  2  0  4  0  22  13  3 Boston L.
