The crews now rowing at the Newell club are all well started. The Freshman crews will go on the river as soon as the weather moderates, and there will then be thirteen eights and two fours rowing from the Newell club. The Law School, the Juniors and the Sophomores have each two eights, and the Sophomores have each two eights, and the Seniors have one eight and one four. The Freshmen have six crews. All of the old University boats, besides those used by the Newell club last year, have been repaired and rigged, making it possible for the second crews as well as the first, to have separate boats and sets of oars. The Freshmen, however, will have to take turns at the barges until they are capable of using the shells.

This plan puts so many crews on the river that a coaching schedule has been found necessary, and the following has been determined upon: 1903--every day, 3-4.30; 1902--Mon., Wed. and Fri., 4.30-5.15; 1901--Tues., Thurs. and Sat., 4.30-5.15; 1900--Mon., Wed. and Fri., 5.15-6.00; Law School--Tues., Thurs., and Sat., 5.15-6.00. In the time allotted to each crew, the second as well as the first will receive the attention of the coaches. The new launch will be used by the graduate coaches, Mr. J. J. Storrow '85, Mr. G. S. Mumford '87, and Mr. H. W. Keyes '87 on alternate days.

Yesterday there were seven crews from the Newell club on the river. A considerable improvement is evident in the blade work of the first crews, and the boats are travelling much more smoothly than they did last week. Vail as usual coached the work from a single, giving each crew an equal amount of attention, and laying special stress on body-work and form. Mr. E. C. Storrow also did some coaching, mostly from the float, but later in the afternoon he coached the Seniors and the Juniors from the coxswain's seat. The Sophomore second crew went out in a shell for more second crew went out in a shell for the first time, and, although their work was ragged at times, they did fairly well. The Law School crew is improving rapidly and yesterday travelled fairly well.
