I was interested in the recent communication of "Junior" inquiring why the salary of the steward of Randall Hall was raised. Not being good at guessing enigmas, I shall not attempt to answer it, more than to say that he doubtless needs the money. The steward at Memorial, in order to get his salary, is obliged to guarantee the cost of board, which, notwithstanding the increased cost of meats, etc., is virtually what it was last year, while prices at Randall are much higher. Take eggs for example. They cost 14 cents a dozen or less; after being cooked, they are sold for 48 cents a dozen. It is high time that a bulletin of cost prices be conspicuously posted. Two years ago, the Foxcroft Club voted for such publicity. The steward, after tacking such a notice on a door far in the rear for a month or two, discontinued the practice, without authorization, so far as I can learn. DETERMINATION.
