To the Editors of the Crimson:

It was an unusual surprise to me to learn that at the last meeting of the Directors of the Randall Dining Association the steward's salary was increased 60 per cent. That the association has not been successful in accomplishing its primary object is the sentiment expressed by many members. The prices of various articles of food are even higher than were those of the parent society, the Eoxcroft Club, and in spite of this fact it is rumored that the association has not been earning its expenses.

If the balance sheet showed a profit it would seem only logical that such a state of things should reflect itself in a judicious decrease in the prices of food and not in an increase in employees' salaries. But to increase salaries, when the association is not making its expenses, is certainly so radical a departure from the fundamental principles of the society as to deserve at least a word of public criticism.
