Professor Munsterberg's new book which recently appeared in Leipzig, Germany, and has just reached Cambridge, is called "Grundzuege der Psychologie". The work discusses the general principles which underlie the study of the mind. It is, as the preface says, a philosophical effort to harmonize in a systematic way the positivistic and the idealistic aspects of mental life; a synthesis between physiological psychology and morality. The problems of the will thus take the most prominent place in the volume. The aims, methods, limits, ideals and applications of psychology make up the first part; the second part is devoted to a study of the nature of the consciousness and the third part to the relation of soul and body. We hear that Professor Munsterberg does not instead to prepare or to authorize an English translation of the volume.
