The Shower of Leonids

Several astronomers have predicted a shower of Leonids for tonight or Thursday morning similar in magnitude to the great showers of 1833 and 1866. Last year, however, the expected shower was a disappointment and doubts are entertained by many as to the actual appearance of the Leonids this year. The preparations at the Observatory, though less extensive than those made last year, are sufficient to cover the entire field of the shower. Four cameras have been mounted together and others will be used separately if the Leonids appear. One or two other cameras will also be exposed at some favorable station within ten miles of the Observatory.
