J. K. Clark 1L., is coaching the candidates for the Freshman basket-ball team.
The courses of instruction this year number 448, compared to 427 in 1898-99, and 425 in 1897-98.
The Yale navy is now collecting money for a new boat house which will be built on the site of the present one.
Columbia has recently received a gift of $100,000 from John D. Rockefeller of New York. The terms of the deed provide for the use of the money in the endowment of the chair of psychology.
At a meeting of the Athletic Committee held last evening, it was voted to give the hockey team permission to play Yale at the St. Nicholas Rink in New York, under the auspices of the Harvard Club of that city, providing no admission be charged. A request of the gymnastic team to give an exhibition at the Sportsman's show was refused, and petitions from the lacrosse and basket ball teams concerning ineligible men were not granted.
Yale has recently received a donation of $100,000 from the estate of the late Cornelius Vanderbilt of New York. According to the terms of the will, the sum was unconditionally given and it will probably go to the general university fund.
