The Freshman debate last night was won by the affirmative, supported by W. F. Glidden and D. P. Lockwood. H. P. Chandler '01 acted as critic.

The subject for the next debate, to be held Dec. 4, is "Resolved, That emigration as now regulated, be restricted to those who can read and write their own language, and possess property amounting to $500. E. H. Abbot and S. B. Hall will speak on the affirmative, and E. M. Moses and N. Silverman on the negative.

The first trial for the debate with the Worcester Classical High School will be held this evening at 7 in Harvard 1. Speeches will be five minutes in length. Question: "Resolved, That the claims of Great Britain in the present controversy in the Transvaal are justifiable."

The question for December 11 will be: "Resolved That Admiral Dewey was justified in deeding his house, purchased by the Dewy Home Fun to his wife." Affirmative -- G. W. South, Jr., G. O. Suppis, P. B. Olney. Negative--A. J. Hammerslough, L. P. Hill, J. P. Hogan.

The question for December 18 is: "Resolved, That the product of prison labor should not be allowed to compete in open market." Affirmative--H. W. Hahn, E. F. Mann, W. M. Angle. Negative--A. Black, A. King, R. A. Dean.
