Later in the afternoon the two Freshman eights rowed a two mile race, from the Longwood Bridge to the Union boat house. The race was a very pretty one to watch, as there was clear water between the two crews at no time during the race. The first boat, by a good spurt toward the finish, won by about three-quarters of a length. A regular first crew will probably be picked from these two boats either this week or the early part of next, but a second crew will be kept for a while longer.
First crew-Stroke, Endicott; 7, Swaim; 6, Peyton; 5, Lyman; 4, Talbot; 3, Williams; 2, Whitney; bow, J. S. Lawrence.
Second crew-Stroke, Hawkins; 7, Loud; 6, McConnell; 5, Perry; 4, Brigham; 3, Gilchrist; 2, Webster; bow, Frost.
