The trustees in charge of the Lowell estate had fixed March 1 as the latest date at which the estate might be bought for a park, but have agreed to extend the time at least a month. In the mean time a special effort will be made by the committee to raise the remaining $14,000. An under committee is forming in Boston and others will be started in other cities. A plan of having a public meeting addressed by President Eliot and other speakers have been given up.
