The improvement of the Weld crews during the past week has been quite noticeable. The order in the various crews has been much changed about and even now their final make-up is uncertain. There has been a constant interchange of men between the crews at the 'Varsity house and those at the Weld. Bedford 1900 has joined the second nineteen hundred crew; Glidden has been recalled and is now rowing 3 in the regular boat. Sheafe '98 was tried in the regular Senior boat for a short time, but yesterday returned to the Weld.

All the crews are now at training tables: Ninety-eight at the University Cafe, ninety-nine and nineteen hundred and one at Links and nineteen hundred at Young's.

The unsettled condition of the makeups has thus far prevented the crews from getting properly together. Richards rowed 7 for a time, but his place has been taken by Sheafe. Conroy has been rowing at stroke in the Ninety-nine boat for the last two days. Bedford was tried at bow in the nineteen hundred boat on Tuesday and Blake 1901 has been laid off owing to illness. Previous to the work of Monday G. O. Clarke was elected captain of the Sophomore and Gerald Blake captain of the Freshman crew.

The crews are rowing a long stroke with considerable swing. The chief difficulty at present is their inability to keep the boats on their keels. Ninety-eight rowed two stretches with the graduates on Monday and won with ease. Ninety-nine was to have rowed a trial against the nineteen hundred regular, but it was postponed.
