Communication.

Plea for Undergraduate Organization.

To the Editors of the Crimson:

At various times throughout the year there have appeared in your columns complaints, many of them just, that certain things which should have been done have been left undone. For instance, why is the Gymnasium run in a manner regardless of the best interests of the University, especially in regard to the supply of hot water? Why is the trophy room neglected-the records on the boards and the photographs of different teams not kept up, and the cups and trophies hidden from the public view? Why haven't we an efficient cheering staff? Why are not Harvard men who injure the University by writing and having published false and malicious reports in the newspapers called to account? Why are not negligent athletes upon whom has been placed the responsibility of representing the University forced to keep up their college work so as not to be in danger of being put on probation?

These and other matters of even greater importance go uncared for simply because there is no authoritative body to see to it that attention is paid to these things. Isn't it possible to get some body picked from among the undergraduates to deal with these affairs which mean so much to Harvard men? We have recently shown that Harvard undergraduates are able to manage their own affairs and are perfectly able to protect the good name of Harvard. Why not have some machinery ready, by which such questions and others may be settled in the future? X.
