Crew Notes.

[Boston Globe].

POUGHKEEPSIE, N. Y., June 10.- The weather was again unfavorable today and the 'Varsity crew had another day of unsatisfactory rowing.

In the morning they ventured out only for a few minutes, while the Freshmen did not launch their boat.

In the afternoon, although the wind was very high, Mr. Lehmann had the crew paddle by fours across the river to a comparatively calm stretch under the lee shore opposite Krum Elbow. Here the crew paddled along the shore with frequent bursts of speed. One stretch of two minutes of rowing was tried, in which the crew maintained a stroke of 38 throughout. The rest of the time was spent in comparatively easy rowing.

In the trip back to the boat house serious difficulties were met with from the high sea that was running in the river. Fortunately a washboard had been put on the shell a few days before; but, as it was, the crew narrowly escaped swamping.

The most noticeable feature of the day's work was the marked improvement in watermanship.

The Freshmen went out awhile in the afternoon in tubs, and for a few moments in their shell.

Both crews took a brisk 500-yard run after the rowing. The orders of both crews were the same as the day before.
